ARTIST STATEMENT
FAYEZ BARAKAT
As an artist, my entire life has been spent trying to capture the beauty in the world and understand its creation. I derive my inspiration from nature and culture, and have dedicated a series of works paying homage to different countries around the world.

Each city and each country has its own flora and fauna, and this flavour always left a great sensation of development in my personality as an artist. Spiritually, culturally, and artistically that was the reason that inspired me to dedicate a work of art for each city, and country that left a memory in my mind.

As the saying goes – “there’s nothing new under the sun” – I believe that we are nothing but a cell in the body of God. I believe that we all are connected within that body.

The works in this series embody my personal visions and feelings whilst simultaneously liberating space for the viewer to articulate their own emotionally-charged responses. Through this process, each work carries a unique message, which is decided by both myself, and the viewer.

My aim is to express my appreciation of the beauty of different landscapes and cultures, and to encourage the viewer to rise subconsciously to a higher meditative level when viewing these artworks, so that they too might feel a connection to all countries and beauty in the world.
